Gifts and diamonds
Viewers buy coins and use them to send you gifts during your LIVE. You receive diamonds for them, which you can cash out. To see roughly what your diamonds are worth, use the diamonds-to-pounds calculator.
You need to be 18 or over to go LIVE and to receive gifts.
Fan memberships
TikTok also offers paid memberships that let fans support you every month, now called Super Fan in many regions (it replaced LIVE Subscription). Members get perks such as a badge and custom emotes. Eligibility and perks vary by region; check LIVE Center for what you can use.
Campaigns and brand deals
Campaigns. TikTok and agencies run campaigns with rewards. At Upfluence, prizes from our own campaigns come on top of what TikTok pays out.
Brand deals. Brands sometimes pay to feature their product in your LIVE. In the UK, ads must be obviously identifiable: say it's an ad, and label it clearly and upfront, for example with 'Ad' or '#ad'. That's what the ASA and CMA expect from influencers.
What's realistic?
Honestly: most creators earn little at first. Earnings grow with your community, and that takes time. Be wary of anyone who promises you a fixed amount or guaranteed income.
An example: 50,000 diamonds in a month is about $250 by the common estimate, or roughly £190 before tax.
Tax
HMRC treats money and gifts you get from creating online content as income. If your total income from it is more than the £1,000 trading allowance in a tax year (6 April to 5 April), you'll usually need to tell HMRC. More in the diamonds-to-pounds guide.
