From coins to diamonds
Viewers buy coins and use them to send gifts. For every gift, you receive diamonds. It's widely reported that roughly 2 coins become 1 diamond.
Coin prices vary by country and by how they're bought. Coins bought in the app usually cost more than on the website, because Apple and Google take a commission. TikTok itself says the price isn't the same for everyone.
What is one diamond worth?
TikTok doesn't publish a fixed worldwide rate for diamonds. Creators often see around $0.005 per diamond, which is roughly £0.0038. That's about a quarter of what the viewer paid for the coins, and less if they were bought in the app.
| Diamonds | Dollars (≈) | Pounds (≈) |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $5 | £3.78 |

| 100,000 | $500 | £377.50 |
| 1,000,000 | $5,000 | £3,775 |

Getting your diamonds paid out
Your balance and payout options are in the TikTok app, under your rewards or balance. In some regions diamonds are shown as LIVE Rewards. TikTok usually pays out in US dollars, often via PayPal, and the name on your PayPal account needs to match your TikTok account.
The minimum amount, fees and how often you can withdraw differ by account and region. Always check in the app; sources online disagree on this.
Do you pay tax on TikTok income in the UK?
- The £1,000 trading allowance. HMRC says income from making online videos and social media influencing counts. If you earn more than £1,000 in a tax year (6 April to 5 April), you need to tell HMRC.
- Self Assessment. If you need to tell HMRC, you usually register for Self Assessment. For the 2025–26 tax year, the deadline to register is 5 October 2026.
- VAT. You must register for VAT if your taxable turnover goes over £90,000 in a rolling 12-month period.
- Gifts in kind count too. Products you receive are counted at what they would have cost you.
Everyone's situation is different. If you're unsure, check gov.uk or speak to an accountant.
Frequently asked questions
Is the value of a diamond fixed?
No. TikTok doesn't publish a fixed rate. Around $0.005 per diamond is a widely quoted estimate; your actual payout may differ.
Why do I receive less than the viewer paid?
TikTok, and for in-app purchases also Apple or Google, keep a share. Measured against what the viewer paid, the creator gets roughly a quarter or less.
Does an agency take a share of my diamonds?
TikTok pays creator networks separately, so you shouldn't be asked to give up any of your earnings. Upfluence never takes a share.
Do I need to tell HMRC about TikTok income?
If your income from it is more than £1,000 in a tax year, yes.
